Jacksonville, Fla (September 15, 2010) Charlotte-based rock/hip hop band Paper Tongues will headline a free concert during Jax Mud Fest (presented by Firehouse Subs) on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center, it was announced today. More than 2,000 runners are expected to participate in the 5K Mud Run and ½ mile Kids Mud Run.

The seven-member band released its debut album earlier this summer to critical acclaim. Managed by Randy Jackson (American Idol), Paper Tongues worked with the industry’s most talented producers to craft an album that’s bustling with energy. They’ll take the stage after the final wave of Mud Fest runners completes the course. The concert is free and open to the public. In addition to Paper Tongues, several local bands will be performing throughout the day. The official Mud Fest concert schedule will be released with the complete lineup later this month.

Mud Fest organizers also announced today a discounted registration rate for active and retired members of the military. When registering online at www.jaxmudfest.com, use promo code “usa10” should be used (case sensitive) to save $10. Military ID must be presented at packet pickup. Standard registration fees are $40 until October 1, then increase to $50. Separate from the entry fee, each Jax Mud Fest participant will have a $100 fundraising minimum.

Important Packet Pick-up info and tips:

-Fundraising Minimum: During both Packet Pick-ups, Mud Fest volunteers will verify that each participant has met his or her $100 fundraising minimum. Race packets will only be given out to those who have met their requirement. Cash, check and credit cards donations will be accepted onsite.
-Race Packet Contents:-There will be several promotional items included in your race packet and two important items: a colored wristband and timing chip. The colored wristbands are specific to each race wave and will also be used after the race to receive your complimentary burger, beverage and ride down the infamous Hippo Water Slide. The timing chips are specific to your registration and are used to track your race time. Race t-shirts will also be given out during each packet pick up.
-Picking up a packet for someone else:-Before offering to pick up a packet for someone else, please confirm that they have met their fundraising minimum. If the fundraising minimum has been met, you will be asked to complete a short form for tracking purposes and will be able to pick up the additional packet(s).
